What can be done to help back pain and sports injuries? Varying methods can be used, but I use ultra sound, laser, faradic electrotherapy, cupping and massage, or any combination of these during your visit. Between visits I may give you some exercises and/or stretches (nothing too strenuous though) to do while at home. I would suggest an initial three visits, where the injury will be assessed, and the progress of the treatment monitored, normally three should suffice in "Kick starting" the body to repair itself, but on occasions especially with more severe problems, more treatments may be needed, but this is entirely up to you - Andy Shutt
Massage is used after most treatments as it enables the therapist to push out any scarred tissue which has been broken down using ultra sound. It can also be used to help with lesions, more commonly called knots, where different methods are used to break the lesions down aiding a speedy recovery
Massage can also be used as a relaxation technique, as most people are aware of
So besides the "post treatment" massage, back, neck and shoulder massages can be used to alleviate stress after a hard week
Massage can be manual or mechanical. Obviously manual is using the hands, but the therapist can also use tools such as the G5 for really deep tissue injuries where the hands/fingers are not powerful enough
